SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

AWARD: $500.00 (Two Scholarships Available)

DEADLINE: March 25, 2024

DETAILS: The Nebraska Sheriff's Association offers scholarships to two high school seniors who are interested in pursuing post-secondary education with a preference in law enforcement or corrections. The scholarship can be applied to any education-related expenses and is available for one year only. The recipient must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution in Nebraska, and the scholarship amount is sent directly to the institution's financial aid department. The scholarship is non-renewable.

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Resident of State of Nebraska

  2. Senior in High School

  3. Minimum Cumulative GPA 3.0

  4. Enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution or trade school

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Submit completed application, and your application must be signed by an active memberof the Nebraska Sheriff’s Association (incomplete applications will not be accepted)

  2. High School transcripts noting cumulative GPA

  3. Written response to the following prompts (each answer should be 250-500 words):

    • Tell us about yourself to include leadership roles, extracurricular activities, and experiences important to you that you would like us to know.

    • Explain why you are interested in your chosen career field.

    • In what ways will receiving this scholarship impact your college education?

    • Indicate if you have completed a Youth Law Enforcement Academy, Explorer Program, or the American Legion Junior Law Cadet Program or have been in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. Tell us how those experiences may prepare you for a future in law enforcement or corrections.
